I just love the Garmin Friction Mount. No more trying to hold
on to the GPS.

I was a little bit skeptical, but after having my window smashed and previous GPS stolen a few months ago I decided to get this along with my Nuvi 780. As it turns out, it works exactly as advertised, and I couldn't be happier with it. The pad sits on my 2008 Accord's dash perfectly, and seriously, this thing stays put. I love the fact that I can just unplug the power from the car and take the whole thing with me, it doesn't leave marks on my windshield, and unlike the suction cup solution it never just falls onto the dash by itself.
One caution: it is important to remember to slide the lever on the base to the "locked" position once you get it adjusted the way you want. I initially didn't do this, and I thought it kind of wobbled a bit and was too easy to turn the screen while touching it. Then I remembered to flip the lever, and once I did that I was amazed by just how stable it is. No amount of button pushing, going over bumps, turns, etc, will dislodge the friction pad or move the screen.
Also, since I bought this with "Frustration-Free Packaging": thank you Amazon for this service. The item is still shipped securely, but now I don't have to deal with that horrific plastic armored stuff.

Product is perfect for anyone who doesn't want his GPS stolen,you don't have to put it on the windshield and tell everyone you might have a unit in your car. Unit moounts easily on dash and just as easyily you can stow it away with no telltale sign that you actually have a GPS in car.

We really like the Garmin Friction Mount and would recommend it. I do not agree with earlier negative reviews...it stays in place, is less obstructive than a window mount, and provides an easily adjustable/easily readable mount for our our Nuvi 255W. We have used it several months in both a Ford Escape and Volkswagen without any problems.

Garmin Portable Friction Mount . great idea, can put away when parking so some one doesn't see and take it. Stays put on the dash, easy to move from place to place if need be. Well worth the money for me.
